About the project
We are looking for a Senior AI Platform / Backend Engineer to join an international team building scalable AI platforms for the research, healthcare, and life sciences sectors.
This role combines platform architecture, backend engineering, and Generative AI, with a strong focus on developing reusable AI services and bringing AI solutions into production.
What you’ll do
- Design and drive the architecture of backend services, ensuring consistency across the platform.
- Develop reusable Generative AI services and shared platform components.
- Transform AI prototypes into scalable, production-ready solutions.
- Contribute to the design of distributed systems across multiple services and modules.
- Define and promote engineering best practices around scalability, observability, testing, and CI/CD.
- Deploy and maintain cloud-native applications running in Kubernetes environments.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Platform, and Research teams.
- Mentor other engineers and contribute to technical standards and engineering excellence.
- Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and cross-team technical initiatives.
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in Generative AI and help drive their responsible adoption within the platform.
What we’re looking for
- Strong experience with Python and Java.
- Solid background in backend development and API design.
- Experience designing and building scalable distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS) and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience working with AI/LLM frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or similar technologies.
- Good understanding of data modeling and distributed architectures.
- Senior-level platform engineering or software architecture experience.
- Strong collaboration, mentoring, and technical leadership skills.
Nice to have
- Experience building internal AI platforms.
- Knowledge of observability tools (metrics, logging, monitoring, alerting).
- Experience with knowledge graphs or semantic search solutions.
